Microsoft Copilot (Microsoft 365): Users with shared mailbox access can use Copilot for email
Microsoft 365 Copilot Chat will allow users with read access to shared mailboxes to use Copilot for email starting late September 2025. The feature is on by default, requires no permission changes, and is available across multiple platforms. Access is controlled by existing mailbox permissions. To support broader collaboration scenarios, Microsoft 365 Copilot Chat will now allow users with access to shared mailboxes to ground their conversations in the content of those mailboxes. This update reflects customer feedback requesting more inclusive access to Copilot capabilities across mailbox types. To use this feature, users must have a Microsoft 365 Copilot license and read access to the shared mailbox.
