Information Barrier support in Microsoft Planner
Microsoft Planner will support Information Barriers starting September 2025, restricting plan sharing and visibility to authorized groups only. This feature, enabled by default for tenants with Information Barriers, enhances compliance and data protection but is unavailable on mobile apps or browsers. No user action is needed to enable it. Introduction A few customers have expressed concerns regarding users being able to view a complete list of tenant members when sharing a Plan. In response, we are pleased to announce that Planner will soon support Information Barriers across both the Planner Web and Planner app within Teams. This feature ensures users can only discover others within their assigned group. Please note that Information Barrier functionality will not be available on the Planner mobile app or when accessing Planner via mobile browsers. This post is associated with Roadmap ID 499077. When this will happen Public Preview (Worldwide): Begins early September 2025, expected to complete by September 20th 2025. General Availability (Worldwide): Begins September 22nd 2025, expected to complete by September 30th 2025. How this affects your organization Once enabled, Information Barrier support will automatically restrict plan sharing and task visibility to authorized user segments. Users will be prevented from selecting unauthorized individuals when sharing a plan. This feature is designed to support compliance, reduce risk of data exposure, and align with organizational policies. The feature will be on by default. No action is required to enable it.
