Microsoft OneDrive: Offline mode process rename

OneDrive is renaming its offline mode background process and updating its icon to align with branding. Changes in sync version 25.145.0727.0001 include new process and task names on Windows and Mac. Rollout starts and completes in late August 2025. Update custom tools and inform IT teams accordingly. Introduction To improve clarity and alignment with OneDrive branding, we are renaming the background process that powers offline mode in both OneDrive and Lists. This update also includes a refreshed icon to reflect the change. When this will happen General Availability (Worldwide): Rollout will begin in late August 2025 and is expected to complete by late August 2025. How this affects your organization The following changes will be introduced in OneDrive sync version 25.145.0727.0001: Process name changes: Windows: From Microsoft.SharePoint.exe to OneDrive.Sync.Service.exe Mac: From Microsoft SharePoint to OneDrive Sync Service.app Task name changes: Windows: from Microsoft SharePoint to Microsoft OneDrive Sync Service Mac: from Microsoft SharePoint to OneDrive Sync Service Icon update: From the SharePoint icon to the OneDrive icon These changes may impact any custom tooling, scripts, or monitoring systems that reference the previous process or task names, or the icon. What you can do to prepare Review and update any custom tools, scripts, or monitoring systems that reference the old process name or icon.
