Grouped notifications in Outlook
Outlook will group email notifications arriving within seconds into a single alert to reduce interruptions, rolling out from late June to mid-September 2026 across Production, GCC, and GCC High. The feature is enabled by default but can be managed in settings. No admin action is needed. What and Why: To help reduce notification fatigue and improve focus, Outlook will automatically group email notifications that arrive within a few seconds into a single alert. This enhancement supports personal and team productivity by minimizing interruptions while ensuring users stay informed of new messages. Rollout Schedule: General Availability (Production): Rollout will begin in late June 2026 and is expected to complete by late-July2026 General Availability (GCC): Rollout will begin in late July 2026 and is expected to complete by mid-August 2026 General Availability (GCC High): Rollout will begin in mid-August 2026 and is expected to complete by mid-September 2026 Impact on Your Organization: Who is affected: All users in Production, GCC, and GCC High tenants using new Outlook or Outlook on the web Platforms/Services: Outlook on the web, New Outlook for Windows What will happen: Users will receive a single grouped notification when multiple emails arrive within a short time window (a few seconds). Selecting the notification will open the latest email in the inbox. Additional unread emails included in the group will be visible in the inbox. The feature will be enabled by default. Users can manage this behavior in Settings > General > Notifications > Email > Group notifications. Action Required/Recommendations: No admin action is required Recommended steps: Inform users about the updated notification behavior to reduce confusion. Update internal helpdesk documentation if you reference Outlook notification behavior. If desired, guide users on customizing their notification preferences via Outlook settings. Compliance considerations: Users can enable or disable grouped notifications in Outlook settings. No other compliance impacts have been identified. Message ID: MC1385580
