Viva Learning: Copilot experience transitions to Learning Agent in Microsoft 365 Copilot
The Viva Learning Copilot experience is transitioning to Learning Agent in Microsoft 365 Copilot, providing a unified, personalized learning experience. Rollout occurs from late June to August 2026 for all Viva Learning licensed users. Admins should review access, update materials, and manage deployment via Microsoft 365 controls. What and Why: Microsoft is updating the Copilot experience in Viva Learning. Users will now be redirected from the existing Copilot experience in Viva Learning to Learning Agent in Microsoft 365 Copilot. This provides a more unified and personalized learning experience and enables users to access learning assistance across Microsoft 365 experiences. Rollout Schedule: General Availability (Worldwide): Rollout began in late June 2026 and completes by late August 2026. Available to all Viva Learning licensed users: August 15, 2026. Impact on Your Organization: Who is affected: All Viva Learning licensed users. Microsoft 365 administrators managing Viva Learning and Copilot experiences. Platforms/Services: Viva Learning Microsoft 365 Copilot Microsoft Teams Learning Agent Microsoft 365 Admin Center What will happen: Users selecting the Copilot button in Viva Learning will be redirected to Learning Agent. The previous side-by-side Copilot experience in Viva Learning will no longer be available. The Copilot button will remain visible to Viva Learning licensed users. Users who have not previously installed Learning Agent will be prompted to add it. Admins can deploy and manage Learning Agent through Microsoft 365 admin controls. Action Required/Recommendations: Action is recommended. Checklist for administrators: Review whether your organization intends to allow access to Learning Agent before rollout completion. Verify that Learning Agent is permitted within your tenant and is not restricted by organizational policies. Review Viva Feature Access Management settings if you want to restrict visibility of the Copilot button in Viva Learning. Determine whether Learning Agent should be deployed to all users or specific Microsoft 365 groups. Update internal training materials and help desk documentation to reflect the new experience. Communicate to users that the previous side-by-side Copilot experience in Viva Learning will be replaced by Learning Agent. Review the deployment guidance in Set up Learning Agent before rollout.
