Microsoft Teams: Enhanced IntelliFrame with AI data channel for intelligent cameras
Microsoft Teams Rooms on Windows will gain enhanced IntelliFrame AI features via certified intelligent cameras, enabling faster speaker framing, participant recognition, and smoother views. AI processing occurs on-device with metadata sent through a dedicated channel, improving performance especially in low bandwidth. Rollout is mid-September to mid-October 2026, enabled by default with no admin action needed. What and Why We are introducing enhanced IntelliFrame capabilities for Teams Rooms on Windows using an expanded AI data channel on certified intelligent cameras. This update enables faster active speaker framing, improved in-room participant recognition and labeling, and more responsive meeting views. By processing AI metadata directly on the device and sending it through a dedicated data channel rather than relying only on cloud processing, this feature reduces dependency on network conditions and improves performance in bandwidth-constrained environments. This helps deliver a more consistent and intelligent meeting experience for both in-room and remote participants. This message is associated with Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID 564969.
