Social ratings APIs are being retired

Microsoft has announced that several social ratings APIs will be retired from January 2024. These include CountRatingsOnUrl, GetRatingsOfUser, GetRatingsOnUrl, GetRatingOnUrl, GetRatingOfUserOnUrl, and DeleteRating - all of which pertain to the social rating functionality. These APIs have been deemed superfluous, as they do not provide any data and consistently yield empty results when called, thus inefficiently using customers' computing resources. If organizations continue to make requests to these APIs after retirement, an exception with the message "This API is deprecated; you should stop invoking the API and remove references" will be returned. While Microsoft's telemetry data indicates almost no usage of these APIs, customers are requested to remove any reliance on them. Alternative existing social ratings APIs can serve as replacements if required.

For more information on the APIs scheduled for retirement and alternative APIs that can serve as replacements, refer to the post Social ratings APIs are being retired by M365 Admin.
