Microsoft PowerPoint for Windows: Improved slide contextual menu consistency
Microsoft PowerPoint for Windows will update the slide contextual menu for better consistency and organization, removing the low-usage Photo Album command from the menu but keeping it in the Insert tab. The rollout starts in October 2026, requires no action, and affects all users. We are updating the contextual menu for slides in Microsoft PowerPoint for Windows to make it more complete and consistent. Common slide actions will be available directly where users are working and organized in a more predictable order, helping users find frequent tasks faster. As part of this update, due to low usage, the Photo Album… command will be removed from the contextual menu but will remain accessible through the Insert tab in the ribbon. This update will be enabled by default for all users and ships via standard staged rollout. There are no new SKU, licensing, tenant, geography, or admin controls, and files, data, security, and compliance are not affected by this update. Rollout schedule General Availability (Worldwide): Rollout begins in early October 2026 and is expected to complete by mid-October 2026. The Photo Album… command will be removed from the contextual menus due to low usage but will remain available on the Insert tab in the ribbon. All other commands will remain available, although some commands may appear in a different position within the contextual menus. This update is enabled by default for all users and ships via standard staged rollout without introducing new SKUs, licensing, tenant, geography, or admin controls, or changes to files, data, security, or compliance.
