New SharePoint Mobile Experience on iOS and Android

The SharePoint mobile app for iOS and Android is redesigned around a personalized Discover experience, launching mid-October 2026 worldwide. It features improved site browsing, file previews, refreshed news, search, dark mode, and better performance, with no admin action or compliance concerns required. What and Why: The SharePoint mobile app for iOS and Android is redesigned around the personalized SharePoint Discover experience, bringing your most relevant files, sites, people, and news together in one place, with improved site browsing, in-app file previews, refreshed news and search, dark mode, and better performance. Rollout Schedule: General Availability (Worldwide, GCC, GCC High, DoD): We will begin rolling out on mid October 2026 and expect to complete by mid October 2026. Impact on Your Organization: After this rollout, the SharePoint mobile app on iOS and Android will open to a redesigned home built around the personalized SharePoint Discover experience. Users who update the app will see a new home screen that brings together the files, sites, news, and updates from the people they work with that are most relevant to them, so they can get to what they need without navigating deep into SharePoint. Additionally, the app will reflect SharePoint branding and not that taken from the M365 admin centre. Users will be able to: Browse recent, favorite, and suggested sites with full site and hub navigation, and jump straight into a site’s document libraries, lists, and news. Preview Word, Excel, PowerPoint, PDF, image, and video files in the app, with the option to open them in the dedicated app. Read news in a refreshed reading experience, including a filter for unread posts. Search SharePoint from a redesigned search experience and share files using the familiar Microsoft 365 sharing experience. Open SharePoint links directly in the app through deep linking, and use the app in dark mode.
