New Microsoft Outlook: New work location sharing options

The latest update of Microsoft Outlook now offers improved work location sharing options. Users and admins have access to more flexible settings to determine the amount of work location information that other users in the organization can see. The update provides the added option of not sharing any work location information if desired. Users can configure these settings through Outlook settings, under Calendar and Work hours and location. Admins can employ the PowerShell cmdlet Set-MailboxCalendarConfiguration to configure location sharing for users. This rollout begins in mid-October 2024 and is set to be complete by late October 2024, with no need for any admin action before the rollout. With this new update, users will have the increased ability to control their work location information within Outlook and its calendars, as well as in applications such as Microsoft Places and Teams. It's important to note that sharing detailed location information will continue to be the default option. If desired, users can choose to share only general location information, in remote or office locations. To prepare for this update, it is recommended that users be informed of the options, and any relevant documentation be updated accordingly.
