Microsoft Purview compliance portal: Information Protection – Named entity coverage for additional markets and languages (U.S. Government clouds)

Microsoft has expanded the named entity coverage in its Purview compliance portal for additional markets and languages in the U.S. Government clouds. Named entities are sensitive information types that are difficult to identify through regular expressions or functions such as person names, physical addresses, and medical terms and conditions. This update extends coverage for names and addresses to an additional 7 countries including China and Russia, and for medical terms and conditions (specifically for the Diseases SIT) to an additional 29 languages across Europe, China, Japan, and Korea. This will aid in better protection of sensitive information and adhere to compliance protocols. The update will be available in the General Availability Release phase from October CY2023.
