Microsoft Teams: New administrative units (AUs) for Teams administration
In August and September 2024, Microsoft Teams will introduce new administrative units (AUs) to simplify Teams administration. These AUs serve as a way to delegate administration to specific subsets of users based on attributes such as department, location, or business unit. Granular role-based access control (RBAC) roles are provided to create more flexible management scenarios. AUs can manage only the users and groups assigned to that specific AU, with RBAC roles, handling areas such as user management, analytics and reports management, and policy management. To set up AUs, Global admins must visit the Microsoft Entra portal. This update provides enhanced management flexibility to Teams administration. The post on M365 Admin offers more information on these new AUs and their capabilities.
