Microsoft SharePoint: Add approvals to any document library
In an effort to provide a smoother approval process for users, Microsoft SharePoint is extending the update for list approvals to document libraries. This feature is expected to roll out in November 2024 for Targeted Release and in December 2024 for General Availability. Users can configure approvals in the Automate menu, with in-progress approvals visible in Teams. No admin action is required before the rollout. Once the feature is enabled, users will be able to configure approvals on a library by going to the Automate dropdown menu in SharePoint Online document libraries and selecting the Configure Approvals option. The requested file will appear in the Approvals app in Microsoft Teams or can be approved directly in the library in SharePoint. It should be noted that if changes are saved while an approval request is still in progress, the in-flight approvals will be cancelled. Nonetheless, in-progress approvals will remain actionable in Teams even after the feature has been disabled.
