How to prepare for Windows 10 end of support by moving to Windows 11
Microsoft is urging organizations to prepare for the end of support for Windows 10 and to transition to Windows 11. The end of support for Windows 10 is scheduled for October 14, 2025, and marks a pivot towards offering the most modern and secure computing experiences possible. The move to Windows 11 is intended to reflect Microsoft's dedication to continuous improvement of Windows security as part of its "Secure Future Initiative."
Windows 11 has been designed to be highly secure with new features such as hardware-based protection through TPM 2.0 and enhanced authentication methods. Microsoft assures that the move to Windows 11 is easy and straightforward as there is a 99.7% compatibility rate with Windows 10 apps. Microsoft has a range of tools to help support the transition process and minimize disruptions to organization's operations.
Note that an annual Extended Security Updates (ESU) program will be available for organizations that need more time to transition to Windows 11. Devices enrolled in this program will continue to receive critical security updates for Windows 10 but new features, technical support and bug fixes will no longer be available.
