CHANGE USER BUSINESS UNIT WITHOUT REMOVING SECURITY ROLES IN DYNAMICS 365
When it comes to Dynamics 365, business units, users, and security roles are interdependent, forming the backbone of the security model in the system. However, changing a user's business unit can result in the removal of all the security roles assigned to the user from the previous business unit, which can be a hassle to manually reassign.
But starting with the 2021 Release Wave 2 Updates, it is possible to change the user business unit without removing the assigned security roles. A new setting has been added to keep the security roles after the change of business unit.
In order to enable this setting, you must import the Organization Settings Editor solution after installing it and follow the steps outlined in the tutorial. Once enabled, you can easily change a user's business unit and the same security roles will still be assigned but under the new business unit.
Note that this feature is not yet available for Dynamics 365 on-premises as of version 9.1.2.2.
If you're struggling with maintaining security roles when changing a user's business unit, this tutorial provides a handy solution to simplify the task and keep your system's security intact.
