There And Back Again, A Tale Of Three Jobs, Six Months, And Never Leaving The Building

There And Back Again, A Tale Of Three Jobs, Six Months, And Never Leaving The Building

This post is about a person's experience of changing jobs three times over six months without physically leaving the building, which started with a LinkedIn recruiter email. The job description of the third job offer was specifically tailored and leadership-related, which enticed the person, even though they had no desire to leave their current company. They made the leap to a new company on the floor above where they currently worked. They enjoyed the new leadership opportunities but did not find working with their colleagues enjoyable, which made them open to another job opportunity that was presented after six months. The person used Scott Hanselman's Dream Job Diagram to weigh up career satisfaction, comparing being a consultant versus being an employee. The person discovered their enjoyment of work was prompted mainly because of enjoyable co-workers rather than the actual work itself, so they switched jobs again. The post ends with a call to action to the reader to consider their happiness with their current job and if not content, to explore the featured company's job opportunities.
