Faster server onboarding and disaster recovery with Azure File Sync (Public Preview)
Azure has launched the public preview of faster server onboarding and disaster recovery, a feature that is set to have a significant impact on the efficiency of Azure File Sync for hybrid access and overall disaster recovery operations. The update addresses the challenge faced by users who find the process of establishing a new server endpoint time-consuming - a challenge that is especially acute for users with millions of files and folders on their Azure File share. However, with the introduction of faster server onboarding and disaster recovery, the time taken for a newly provisioned server endpoint to become ready for use has been greatly reduced. This feature is available when the server endpoint location is empty. In addition, Azure has introduced a Provisioning Steps tab, which provides users with an easy way of determining when the server endpoint is ready for use. Furthermore, users can now access the data even before the sync is fully operational on the server endpoint, and the system prioritises and populates the items of interest, enabling faster access to data. To get started with this feature, users can register for the public preview.
