Microsoft Syntex Taxonomy Tagger

Microsoft Syntex Taxonomy Tagger

Microsoft Syntex now offers an AI-powered solution to tag documents residing in SharePoint libraries with the help of an AI-based Taxonomy store. This feature makes it easier to search, sort, filter, and manage documents with its automatic tagging of keywords, which are stored in a managed metadata (Taxonomy) column on the item. Please note that Syntex Taxonomy Tagger is not included in the Syntex seat license and is available on a pay-as-you-go basis.

Admins can activate Taxonomy Tagger by setting up Syntex Billing by visiting Set Up -> Files and Content -> Set up Syntex in the Microsoft Admin center. After billing setup is complete, admins can enable Taxonomy Tagger for libraries in the entire tenant, selected sites or none at all. However, Taxonomy Tagger is currently unavailable in OneDrive for Business.

End users can enable Taxonomy tagging only after the admin allows it. There are two ways to enable taxonomy tagging at a library level, which are either using an existing Taxonomy column or creating a new one. Once enabled, any new documents uploaded or existing documents edited in the library will be automatically processed to tag the configured term set.

The rollout for Microsoft Syntex Taxonomy Tagger is expected to begin in late August 2023 for targeted release and early September 2023 for standard release. This rollout is associated with Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID 152001.
