Change in Item Insights behaviour in Delve and the Microsoft Graph Trending API

Delve and the Microsoft Graph Trending API are undergoing changes that will alter the user experience and the Item Insights toggle. Previously, users or groups of users who had item insights turned off could not access collaborative experiences in Delve. However, from December 1, 2022, this will change. Users who have Item Insights turned off will now be able to use such experiences, while their own activities remain protected from being shared. The change ensures that users with item insights disabled have the same protection against data discovery, but can still view data and activities from users who have chosen to contribute. It is essential to note that nothing changes for customers where the tenant administrator has disabled item insights for the entire organization.
By allowing Microsoft to compute item insights from signals in shared workspaces, users can turn activities and content into usable recommendations. Doing so boosts the productivity of the entire organization. While Microsoft never discloses private documents and only uses content insights that users already have access to, users must still consider the risk of discovering the content by undesirable individuals. In such cases, users can choose to turn off item insights. For more information on item insights and potentially turning it off, please see the official documentation. The change planned impact all users of Delve and/or the Microsoft Graph Trending API. Specific actions are not required from either administrators or users when the change takes effect.
