Dynamics 365 Field Service : Use Dynamics 365 Guides with work orders

Integrating Dynamics 365 Guides with Dynamics 365 Field Service enhances technician efficiency by providing step-by-step holographic instructions directly within the context of work orders. This mixed reality integration ensures accurate task execution, reduces training time, and improves overall service quality.

How to Use Dynamics 365 Guides with Work Orders

1. Create a Guide:

  • Develop a guide using the Dynamics 365 Guides PC or HoloLens app. This guide should contain the necessary steps and holographic instructions for the task at hand.

2. Associate the Guide with a Work Order:

  •  In Dynamics 365 Field Service, create a new work order.
  •  Add a service task to the work order.
  •  Within the service task, select the appropriate guide to associate with it .

3. Schedule the Work Order:

  •  Assign the work order to a technician.

4. Technician Access via HoloLens:

When the technician logs into the Dynamics 365 Guides app on HoloLens, they will see a dedicated Field Service tab. This tab displays the assigned work orders and associated guides, allowing the technician to launch the guide and perform the task with holographic assistance .

Benefits of Integration

  • Enhanced Accuracy: Technicians follow precise, visual instructions, reducing errors.
  • Improved Training: New technicians can quickly learn tasks through guided steps.
  • Increased Efficiency: Onsite task completion is faster with real-time guidance.
  • Better Compliance: Standardized procedures ensure adherence to protocols.

Considerations

  • Prerequisites: Ensure that both Dynamics 365 Guides and Field Service are installed in the same environment, and users have access to both applications.
  • Guide Creation: Guides must be created using the PC or HoloLens app; do not create new guides directly from the Field Service interface .
  • Display Limitations: Long service task names may be truncated in the HoloLens interface.

By integrating Dynamics 365 Guides with Field Service work orders, organizations can leverage mixed reality to enhance field operations, leading to improved service delivery and customer satisfaction.
