Microsoft Fabric - Local OneLake Tools

Microsoft Fabric - Local OneLake Tools

When working with cloud data, it can be helpful to have the ability to interact with it locally. In this video and transcript, two tools that allow you to do just this with your OneLake data are discussed: the OneLake File Explorer and the Azure Storage Explorer. The OneLake File Explorer allows you to browse your OneLake data, while Azure Storage Explorer allows you to connect to OneLake and navigate the data. However, there are some caveats to keep in mind when using these tools.

The video covers the installation process for the OneLake File Explorer, as well as the potential for egress costs when using Azure Storage Explorer. Additionally, the system file access in OneLake File Explorer and the process for adding, deleting, and syncing files are demonstrated. The transcript also includes useful links to documentation on these tools.

If you are interested in the Microsoft Fabric platform, this video is part of a larger series that includes an end-to-end demo, an introduction, and perspectives on the platform. Overall, the video and transcript provide valuable information for those looking to interact with OneLake data locally.
