Host Microsoft Defender data locally in Switzerland
Microsoft Defender for Endpoint and Microsoft Defender for Identity customers in Switzerland can now benefit from local data residency support. This new offering ensures that data at rest remains within Swiss borders, enabling customers to meet their regulatory obligations and maintain control over their data. By hosting their data locally, customers can benefit from the highest levels of security and compliance.
To configure Microsoft Defender for Endpoint with local data hosted in Switzerland, the EntraID tenant needs to be set to Switzerland. Additionally, devices must be onboarded using streamlined connectivity. For new customers, access the security portal and continue with onboarding in the GoLocal geo. For existing customers, a tenant reset request is necessary. Configuring Microsoft Defender for Identity data to be hosted in Switzerland requires that the EntraID tenant is set to Switzerland, and either onboarding the workspace in Switzerland for new customers or requesting a workspace reset for existing customers.
The availability of local data residency support in Switzerland demonstrates Microsoft's commitment to customer security and compliance
