Microsoft Teams is improving its visibility when an urgent task is published by enabling Teams activity feed items to all team members or owners. This means that when an urgent task is published to a Microsoft team, each member or owner of the team that receives this task will receive a Teams activity feed that informs them that an urgent task was published to their team, ensuring greater visibility for time-sensitive tasks, such as product recalls. This change in notification activity is related to Task Publishing, which is designed for frontline organizations that need work to be completed across distinct locations. It allows business leaders to centrally define a set of tasks to be completed and distribute a copy of those tasks to tens, hundreds, or thousands of teams across the organization. This feature must be enabled by an admin and will not affect when a user creates an urgent task in the Tasks app for their own team. The feature is set to roll out beginning late March and is expected to complete by mid-April.
If your organization has not enabled task publishing in Microsoft Teams or you do not publish any tasks with priority set to urgent, your organization will not be affected. This is a part of Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID: 117573. Visit the task publishing documentation for more information on how to set up task publishing for your organization.
