Action Required – Changes to Get & Transform Data (aka Power Query) features in Excel

Excel users, take note: changes are coming to the Get & Transform Data (aka Power Query) features in the program. Starting March 11th, 2024, important changes to the features will be introduced. If you're not using Power Query, you can disregard this message. However, if you are using Power Query, it's important to note that certain capabilities will require the installation of Microsoft Edge WebView2 by March 11th, 2024. To ensure that you're able to use all the features of Get & Transform Data in Excel, it's recommended that you install this library now.
In addition, Microsoft is planning to deprecate the support of TLS (Transport Layer Security) 1.1 or lower in Get & Transform Data (aka Power Query) on all platforms, which may impact your ability to access certain external data sources via Get & Transform Data tools in Excel. To prepare for these changes, it's important to keep your helpdesk and documentation updated, install the Microsoft Edge WebView2 framework, and verify that any external data sources used with Power Query support TLS version 1.2 or higher. For more information, visit the links provided in the message ID MC696575.
This change may complicate things for some users, but with the right preparation and resources, you can ensure that your experience with Excel stays seamless even after these changes take place.
