IPv6 coming to Azure AD

IPv6 coming to Azure AD

Microsoft Azure Active Directory (Azure AD) is introducing IPv6 support to its suite of services. This will allow users to access Azure AD services using both IPv4 and IPv6 network protocols, depending on their requirements. IPv6 support is being introduced in a phased approach, starting from March 31, 2023, and is expected to be completed by early July. If you use named locations in your Conditional Access policies, you need to review and update them to include identified IPv6 ranges to avoid any disruption. Similarly, if you use Conditional Access location-based policies, ensure that you conduct an audit of existing policies and update them to meet your security requirements. Failure to follow these steps might result in users being blocked, and false positive detections. Microsoft will continue to share additional guidance on IPv6 enablement in Azure AD.
