Microsoft Dynamics 365 Customer Experience Analyst : Differentiate standard and premium Sales Insights features

 What’s included vs. what’s premium

Rule of thumb: Standard gives you helpful, lightweight insights built into Sales (usually included with Sales Enterprise). Premium adds AI-driven scoring, analytics, and call intelligence (typically requires Sales Premium or the Sales Insights add-on).

Some Sales SKUs include a light Sales Accelerator; full Sequences/automation typically require Premium. Exact entitlements can vary by license/SKU and region—always confirm in the current Microsoft licensing guide.

Configuration at a glance

Standard features

  • Turn on Sales Insights (standard): App settings → Sales Insights → enable Relationship Assistant and Auto-capture.
  • Tune cards: Choose which standard cards to show, set basic rules (entities/scopes), and user visibility.

Premium features

  • Prereqs: Appropriate licenses, Dataverse enabled, and (for Conversation Intelligence) telephony/meeting recordings & compliance approvals.
  • Predictive models: App settings → Sales Insights → Lead/Opportunity scoring → select fields, train, review feature impact, publish.
  • Relationship analytics: Enable on Accounts/Opportunities, set health rules, KPIs, and time windows.
  • Assistant Studio: Build targeted/custom cards, audiences, actions, and expiration logic.
  • Conversation Intelligence: Connect call sources (Teams/telephony), configure language, redaction, topics/keyword tracking, and assign viewer/coach roles.
  • Sales Accelerator & Sequences: Define work queues, create step templates (call/email/task), branching, time-based triggers, and assignment rules.

Governance & success tips

  • Privacy & compliance: Involve legal/security early for call recording, transcription, PII redaction, and retention policies.
  • Data quality: Scoring models are only as good as your data—standardize fields, dedupe, and enforce activity tracking.
  • Adoption: Start with a small, high-impact set of cards/insights; avoid “alert fatigue.” Use dashboards and coaching reports to reinforce behaviors.
  • Measure value: Track KPIs pre/post (win rate, cycle time, conversion, pipeline health). Iterate models and card rules quarterly.

When to choose which

  • Stay Standard if you mainly need reminders, light automation, and suggested tracking from email/calendar.
  • Go Premium if you want AI-driven prioritization (lead/opp scoring), relationship & pipeline health, guided selling (sequences), and Conversation Intelligence for coaching and deal insight.
