Microsoft Dynamics 365 Customer Experience Analyst : Create product bundles

Microsoft Dynamics 365 Customer Experience Analyst : Create product bundles

What is a Product Bundle in Dynamics 365 Sales?

A Product Bundle is a group of related products sold together as a package in Dynamics 365 Sales.

Instead of adding multiple products one by one, sellers can add a bundle to opportunities, quotes, orders, or invoices.

Example:

Selling a Laptop Bundle that includes:

  • Laptop
  • Mouse
  • Carry bag
  • Extended warranty

This helps sellers sell complementary items together, improving cross-sell and up-sell efficiency.

Key Features of Product Bundles

1. Predefined product grouping – define once, reuse across quotes/orders.

2. Automatic pricing & discounts – bundle pricing can be set to:

  • Fixed price for the whole bundle
  • Sum of individual product prices
  • Discount applied on the group.

3. Mandatory or optional products – some items can be required (e.g., base product), others optional (e.g., add-ons).

4. Streamlined selling – sellers add one bundle, system auto-adds all included products.

5. Customization flexibility – business rules can define how bundles behave.

When to Use Bundles vs Kits vs Families

  • Bundle → Used when products are independent items but commonly sold together. (e.g., Laptop + Mouse + Bag).
  • Kit (Deprecated) → Used to sell items that function as one single product. Microsoft recommends using Bundles instead of Kits.
  • Product Family → A way to logically group products for categorization (not for selling as a package).

How to Create a Product Bundle in Dynamics 365 Sales

Step  1: Navigate to Product Catalog

Go to App Settings → Product Catalog → Bundles.

Or in Sales Hub, search Bundles in the site map.

Step 2: Create a New Bundle

Click New Bundle.

Enter details like:

  • Name (e.g., Laptop Starter Bundle)
  • Product ID (unique identifier)
  • Default Unit (e.g., Piece, Set)
  • Price List assignment

Step  3: Add Products to the Bundle

In the Bundle form, go to Associated Products section.

Add products one by one:

  • Choose mandatory/optional
  • Define quantity (e.g., 1 Laptop, 1 Bag, 1 Mouse)

Step 4: Define Pricing

Choose how pricing should work:

  • Use individual product prices
  • Or set a special bundle price
  • Add discounts for the bundle

Step 5: Publish the Bundle

Save and Publish the bundle → it’s now available for sellers.

Sellers can add the bundle to opportunities, quotes, orders, invoices just like a single product.

Example: Selling with a Bundle

  • Sales rep creates a Quote.
  • Adds Laptop Bundle.
  • System automatically includes:
    • Laptop (mandatory)
    • Mouse (mandatory)
    • Carry Bag (optional, seller can remove)
  • Final price reflects bundle rules.

Business Benefits of Bundles

  • Simplifies selling – fewer clicks for reps
  • Encourages cross-selling & upselling
  • Standardizes product packages → consistent offers to customers
  • Reduces pricing errors
  • Increases revenue with attractive bundles

In summary:

Product Bundles in Dynamics 365 Sales make it easy to package multiple related products into a single offering, streamline selling, and boost sales efficiency.
